FAQ
So what is Crossfit? What do you do?
Crossfit can be simply defined as the sport of fitness. Click here more in-depth explanation of how we achieve true fitness at Crossfit Coeur d’Alene.
For a great article on how we define fitness read Greg Glassman’s seminal piece, What is Fitness?
For more information on the movements that form the cornerstones of our workouts, read Foundations.
I don’t know if I am fit enough to join! Should I get in better shape before I start working out with you guys?
No! ALL of our workouts are scalable to ability. You don’t have to be able to do pull-ups, push-ups, or be super flexible before you come to us! That’s what we are here for! If you can’t run, walk. If you can’t jump, step-up! We enjoy working with athletes of all ages and abilities.
Looks great! How much does it cost to try?
The first class is free! Email us at info@crossfitcda.com, or call us at 208-623-8136 to set up your free session. After you have a good idea of what we offer, we can discuss our pricing options- at CrossFit Coeur d’Alene, our athletes pay for training, not gym access.
I have heard that your workouts make people sore! Will I get really sore?
Muscle soreness is a natural part of the process of getting fitter. Increasing your flexibility, your strength, and your endurance requires pushing the envelope of your comfort zone- the trick is managing the “dose” of the exercise. That’s where we come in. We will do our best to tailor the workout to challenge you, but our goal is not to completely break your body down. We want you to come back for more!
Ok, so I can handle a bit of muscle fatigue. How long can I expect to be sore?
That depends on the individual athlete, but most of our members find that the first workout is the most challenging. After that, your body will begin to adapt.
How often should I come to class?
We find three times a week is ideal for beginners. As the athlete progresses, their body will become capable of handling a heavier workload.
I am a triathlete. Can I incorporate CrossFit into my training program?
Absolutely! CrossFit is an excellent strength and conditioning program- it will work as a standalone program, or as a supplement to your current program. To read a bit more on how effective CrossFit can be for the triathlete, click here.
Where is the pec deck/leg sled leg curl machine?
Our gym is unlike most others- we focus on time-honored methods of building muscle, foregoing expensive equipment that isolates one muscle group at a time. Simply put, we believe that since there is no natural situation where one muscle group (say, the quadriceps) works in isolation from another (like the hamstring or core group), why should we waste time training them independently? Your body works as a unit, and it should be trained that way.
Sounds great! How do I start?
All new members must go through our Boot Camp. Learn more here.
