Referral Credits are Coming!

this has nothing to do with referral credits.

Fear not brave CrossFitters, your referral credits are coming! If you brought a buddy to Boot Camp, your $50 credit will appear on the Nov. 1 billing cycle. What are YOU going to do with the extra scratch? Personally, I recommend stocking up on toothpaste. An investment in teeth is a solid one.

Thanks again to all of our dedicated athletes who continue to spread the word!

What WE do…

You know what that means?  Bring-A-Friend-to-Fran-Day!  So bring someone you love, OR someone you hate to our 9 am class tomorrow.  Don’t worry, we will scale it… not so much for you though.  Remember, it’s our tester for the week.

You might recognize our newest booters down below brandishing their guns.  They are now official crossfitters, so show them the way!  And remember, a fresh class starts up Monday!

The AM “we don’t like to work out with chicks” crew.  Derek, Jason, Mike, Robert and Errin.

On the Games, and introducing Skunk Works.

We are very excited to be sending two athletes to this year’s CrossFit Game Regional and Final! Ted Rupp has proven to the world what we already know: He is a fit guy for any age- but amongst his peers, he is elite. Ted finished 18th worldwide in the open, and will be heading to the games this July. Camille Carleton is on her way to the to NW Regional- she placed 56th in the NW open, and is looking to improve on that finish this June. Both Derek and I look forward to helping these great athletes peak for the coming challenges!

As excited as we are to be sending two of our best individuals, we are equally disappointed that we will not be sending a team to this years’ competition. As a group, we were edged out of a slot at the regionals by 1 place. There were grumblings around the gym about unfair scoring, or teams stacked with individual competitors, but the fact is that in any competition, if you are on the bubble, you might get pushed. We simply can’t just hope that next year will go better- if anything, it will only get harder. To that end: Skunk Works.

For our athletes that want to make CrossFit their sport, Derek and I have developed a comprehensive, year-long program designed to maximize the potential of our athletes. There is no additional cost for the program, only a commitment to do the work, as we write it. This group is open to ANYONE who wants to join- athletes young and old, those who have been crossfitting for 1 month or 3 years will benefit. Our goal is to come into next years games season with a deep, close-knit group of athletes, and take the team to the games. Email us at info@crossfitcda.com if you want to be a part of CFCDA Skunk Works.

New Recruits Joining Our Ranks!

We have a new slew of recruits who just finished the boot, make sure to mentor them well!

And don’t forget, the next boot camp starts Monday the 25th at 6 am or 7 pm! Get your friends in there!

Chris, Nicole, Derek, Kendall, Sita, Peter, and Marta.  Getting their Zeus on.

Derek, Barb, Maddie, Dave, Marisha, Marci, Terry, and Chuck.  Don’t ask…

8 New Ladies and 1 Guy!

We had nine new graduates pass the test this week.  Make sure you show them the way of the CrossFit Jedi… don’t let them stumble through their CFCDA Warmup on their own, show them the way!

Also, come get yer stretch on every Saturday with our new yoga instructor, Brandi!  Find your inner suppleness!  If you are that guy or gal that during a native squat and resembles a dog pumping a grumpy in my front yard, make it a priority!

For you hard-chargers on Team CFCDA, for the next five weeks we’ll be doing the games open WOD as the regular class WOD every Wednesday.  If you miss it you can make it up Saturday at 8:30 (we’ll also have an alternate WOD Sat if you already partook and don’t feel like punishing yourself again.)  And now the wait for Tuesday night begins…

Use your fitness!

shredding the rad

Last week, Jacob and I took a little backcountry ski trip up Tiger Peak.  We skinned up about 2500 vertical feet over a few miles, a solid morning’s work (play?).  The climb, while challenging, was rewarding.  The fresh tracks we earned on the way back down?  That was pretty nice, too.

All of us work hard at the gym- which can be rewarding in and of itself.  Make sure you take the opportunity to use that hard-earned fitness: learn a new sport, or reacquaint yourself with an old one.  Above all, have fun!

Jan Booters!

The am crew: Jon, Sandra, Mrs. Amy, Jeni, Cyndi, Lonnie, Emry and Chris.

The pm’ers: Derek, Ziggy, Trent, Paul, Brian, Pam, Matt, Chelsea, Nick, Jon.

Another group of hard chargers will be joining the group classes!  We had a good mix this time around: a family of four, a pre-school teacher, a nanny,  and even the crew from our favorite watering hole!  Welcome them with open arms and show them the ropes!

Also, gluten free Janurary is almost over… how do you feel?  Was it hard or relatively easy?  Any changes, good or bad?  Will you try to steer clear of gluten from now on?  Let us know!

Christmas Booters!

These boot campers had it tough.  Trudging through the snow to make it to class tree times week (uphill, both ways) and fending off christmas tree shaped cookies on their paleo quest were just a few of the hardships they had to endure.  While most people were donning ugly sweaters and binging on fudge at employee christmas parties, these guys were learning how to squat, deadlift, clean and snatch.  And it paid off.  Just look at their scores!  If you see these guys in the gym, introduce yourself and maybe show them what a hollow rock is.  We love new additions to the family.

And don’t forget!  Polar Bear Plunge, 12 noon on New Year’s Day at Sander’s Beach!!!  Bring the speedo.

Of boots and hilarious videos

Another boot in the bag!  Congrats to all 15 athletes, we look forward to seeing you in the group classes! I neglected to take pics, lame.  I did remember the t shirts this time though…

On another note: check out this awesome video of J-Rod made of last month’s challenge: hula shake weight!
