First off, we’ve started up Yoga again on Saturday at 10 am, effective immediately. You can stay after the regular WOD and participate, or just show up for yoga. If you’re one of those tight crossfiters (you know who you are), you really need to make this a priority! The yoga class has been in and out of the schedule, we are happy to provide it for the group, but want to see it utilized. In fact, there are a handful of you out there who we would rather see SKIP the Saturday wod and show up to yoga! In other words, quit driving with your E-brake on!
Starting the week of Feb. 13th, we’ll be adding a few classes:
We’ll have a 4:30 pm CrossFit on Monday and Wednesday and Friday??only.
After School Athletes class will move to 3:45 on M, W, F. This class is geared towards teens involved in sports who need a strength and conditioning program in their offseason, as well as kids looking to get fit and have fun. For more info on this class see Derek or Jon.
We’ll be starting a Saturday morning specialty class at 8:00. The class will focus on different things each session and range from Olympic Weightlifting, Rowing, Gymnastics, Dynamic Effort Strength, etc. Spots will be limited, and you’ll be required to sign up at the gym.
Other schedule changes starting the week of Feb. 13th:
Friday 6:30pm class will be cut from the schedule- There will still be two evening classes (4:30 and 5:30), just no 6:30pm.
If you aren’t part of our_Paleo Challenge Facebook Group, you may have missed these cool videos Ivory posted. Interesting that the reporter had to stuff her face with whole foods in an effort to keep her current weight, yet in 10 days lowered her cholesterol, dropped her blood pressure, and reversed her insulin resistance (she wasn’t aware she was pre type II diabetic).
Speaking of cholesterol, be sure to make it in for the next wellness seminar with Dr. Brittany Burns, as that will be one of the subjects covered! Date and time TBA!
Come celebrate all of your hard work at the POST Paleo Challenge/Pre-Crossfit Opens PARTY! Dress to impress… which means cocktail dresses ladies and nice attire gentlemen. Show off those new bodies! We will announce the winners and hand out the cash moolah! We will also provide a keg of cider. Make sure to bring all of your favorite paleo recipes that got you through 6 weeks of “torture”. Remember, the Crossfit Opens starts the very next week, so you have to stick to paleo if you want to kick some butt!?
ALSO: It is SUMMER’s bday party bash down at the resort… so make sure to hit that up after the Paleo Party!!!
Hey gang, we are happy to announce that we have secured the services of a most excellent physical therapist to help fix your grumpy bits! Technically, this is known as “added value”- we prefer to call it like we see it: KICK-ASS. Here is the lowdown:
-Free advice will be dispensed Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30pm. We will have a first come, first serve sign up on the white board, with 4-6 slots. When you sign up, post your first name as well as your ailment. That way, if someone else has a similar issue they can attend at the same time.
-Use this as an opportunity to fix those nagging issues. Fell out of tree when you were seven? Skiing accident? Arm pinned by a boulder while canyoneering solo, had to cut it off with a rusty pocket knife? PT can help.
Josh Bartoo will be the guru-in-residence, here is a brief bio:
fiancee not included.
Josh was locally born and raised, attending Oregon State University/University of Idaho majoring in Zoology and Physical Therapy School at Idaho State University. A physical therapist for 8 years with career interests in sports medicine and general orthopedics, Josh’s life interests include endurance sports such as high altitude climbing and triathlons, golfing, and basketball.
It’s FRIDAY! This means that ya’ll have been doing the Paleo Challenge for 19 FULL DAYS! Almost half way through.
Here are a few benefits of Paleo to get you through the next three weeks:
1. Weight Loss- this is more of a side effect of paleo. By choosing the right foods, you are staying away from the sugary processed foods that have low nutrition. Paleo preaches natural food sources which are packed with nutrients and fills our bodies with the fuel that is needed to both get through that work day as well as those insane CFCDA workouts. Because you fill up on good things, you eat less and HEALTHIER calories!
2. Diet for Acne- paleo helps everybody, not just suffering teenagers, to have a clearer and smoother skin texture. Ingestion of unprocessed and nutritious foods always results in an improved overall appearance, what some call a “healthy glow”!
3. Cure for the common illness- paleo has been linked to increased immune system responses. The more natural nutrients your body receives, the healthier and stronger it will become to fight off those pesky colds and flus.
4. Arthritis- paleo has also been linked to decreased inflammation which reduces the effects of arthritis and minor aches and pains!
5. Athletic Output- In the past few weeks, we have seen HUGE improvements in the Paleo Challenge Athletes output! Granted, the first week you may have felt sluggish and more tired than usual. BUT now, everyone is pulling PRs (Personal Records).
If you missed Brittany’s Wellness Lecture last night, you missed a great talk which touched on everything from sleep, nutrition, and exercise (our Big Three) to the role of relationships and genetics in your health. A good time, with loads of questions asked during the Q&A. We will be hosting a talk with Brittany once a month through June, make sure to check back regularly for dates! If you would like to download lecture notes, click here:?Lecture series- 1-Wellness, Back to the basicsv2.
Over two weeks down!!! How is everyone feeling???? I have heard of some pretty amazing changes and I have SEEN a lot too! I can see it some of your faces, some of your energy levels, and the numbers you all are pulling are looking better and better! Stein got his first muscle up last week, Lianna got a PR on her deadlift yesterday, most everyone PR’d on Fran including Jon and me! Just imagine what is to come in the next 4 weeks!
What are some side effects you are experiencing? DON’T BE SHY! Have any more lingering questions/concerns/issues? Please vent below and have your coaches and peers help.
GOOD LUCK!!! Remember, money isn’t everything, but it will sure help buying a new wardrobe
