Athlete of the Month: RJ Miller- For Reals!
Many of you may know him at the resident DJ, or the avid Rogue clothing ambassador, or the perfect hair coif even after a good sweat athlete. But none of that really matters because RJ has been a very big part of the Tribe for over 4 years and we wouldn’t want it any other way.
He always has a big smile and a shaker, loves to get everyone pumped up on a good workout or song, and has quads for days- he really is one of the strongest at the gym! Thanks for being you RJ and always bringing a good vibe to the tribe!
Name: Ronnie (RJ) Watha Miller JR
How long have you been doing crossfit?
4 years 2 months 16 days 11 hours OR roughly $65,000, however you choose to look at it.
What is your Athletic Background if any?
I grew up playing all sports but focused on the traditional sports (baseball, basketball, football, soccer) until high school when I dropped soccer. I ended up playing baseball at a small school in AZ. I would like to formally thank and apologize to my parents for spending a good portion of their lives shuffling me to a different sport every week (and paying for them).
How did you get started with Crossfit?
Actually, I originally started crossfit after talking with Falon Dalton and seeing the incredible shape she was in, from that point on I knew I wanted to look like her (dark haired boy version). I had been working out on my own with little progress, mostly because I didn’t know how to program my own workouts.
What are some of your Hobbies outside Crossfit?
I try to stay as active as possible, there really isn’t anything that I won’t try but I have always loved skiing, golf, surfing, hiking, motorcycles, wake boarding, diving etc.
What are 3 things we at Crossfit don’t know about you?
1) I am not actually 6’1
2) I am actually a huge history nerd
3) I am going to become a CIA agent when I grow up
Whats your favorite thing about our Box?
Other than my own music playlist I honestly love everybody ( even you J-Burns & Yates). Such a great, healthy, positive environment. I knew once I started, that it would be something I would try to revolve my life around. I have a blast with everybody and love pushing as hard a possible. I really like to see other people do something that is out of their comfort zone and get better everyday. It’s something that probably doesn’t get said enough but I am really proud of everybody in our gym, it takes a lot of guts to even try it.
What other boxes have you been too?
Crossfit Arbor in Boise, Infernal in AZ, Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake, Scorpion in AZ
Any other comments:
I want to thank all the coaches that have put up with me over the last 4 years! You guys make our gym what it is and that is something special. I would have a tough time leaving CDA and the biggest reason would be Crossfit CDA!
