Athlete of the Month: Jennifer Yates
Oh Jen-Jen, how we love thee so. Jen comes to the 5:30 class 5x/week and usually the Saturday morning class. She always comes with her fun loving, sassy attitude and we wouldn’t’ want it any other way. Her favorite person to make fun of is Jonathan, but stay tuned for more on that.
In all seriousness, we couldn’t imagine having this Tribe without Jen. Her smile and laugh are contagious, she kicks butt at the workouts and this last wellness challenge and she has more Lululemon than anyone in the gym(well maybe not Channy.) Congrats Jen, well deserved!
Jen, Jen-Jen, Yates, Meyers (which is actually spelled Myers, but has always been spelled incorrectly).
How long have you been doing crossfit?
According to Meagan, 50 years, but I believe it’s more like 7-7.5 years.
What is your Athletic Background if any?
I ran track and cross-country in high school. I enjoy road biking and I have decided to give mountain biking another shot, so I’m looking forward to getting out on my new bike soon. I have zero coordination which makes participation in just about any other sport impossible. Anyone who has watched me snatch can attest to that.
How did you get started with Crossfit?
My husband. He was one of the OG members. I made fun of him for doing it. Derek and Jonathan finally talked me into it. I’m sure they regret that decision now.
What are some of your Hobbies outside Crossfit?
Running, biking, hiking, snowboarding, spending time with my friends usually doing one of the aforementioned things.
What are 3 things we at Crossfit don’t know about you?
I’m pretty much an open book, but for those people who don’t work out in the evenings…1. I won’t poop in a public bathroom, unless I’m running and then there’s not controlling it. 2. I don’t like being the center of attention…and filling this out makes me uncomfortable. Which I know seems odd, since I clown it up at the gym. 3. I actually like Burns.
Whats your favorite thing about our Box?
Not to sound like a broken record (I think this has been everyone’s response so far) but the people and the coaches (who are also people). My closest friends are at this gym. It’s where I go to unwind and it’s where I go to have fun. I don’t know what I would do without it.
What other boxes have you been too?
None. If I’m out of town it’s either a quick work trip or vacation…and I don’t work out on vacation. NOPE…not even a little bit.
Any other comments:
No. See #2 under “3 things we at Crossfit don’t know about you”
