Athlete of the Month: Curtis Holick

June 16, 2015 blog

Curt has been the gym consistently since starting Crossfit and he has seen amazing results and finally found a program that he enjoys! Thanks for making CFCDA your new gym home Curt!

Name: Curtis Holick

How long have you been doing CrossFit?
Since early December 2014, so right around 6 months.

Hawaii 2012 149

What is your Athletic Background if any?
I did not play any sports in high school. But I did ride my Mountain bike a lot. And also did about 400 miles of back-packing in one summer in Yellowstone National Park. So that kept me pretty lean in my younger years.

How did you get started with CrossFit?
I was doing some classes and my “own” workout at the Kroc for a couple of years but I was very inconsistent. When I did a visit here at CFCDA, I knew it was the challenge I wanted. I was thrilled that there are multiple classes all day, and all week long. And a couple of FB friends also raved about their CrossFit gyms.

What are some of your Hobbies outside CrossFit?
R.V. camping, Riding Honda Trail 90’s, Deer & Elk Hunting, Some Fishing, Gardening, Cooking & BBQ, Firearms, Photography, Travel, Anything & Everything Automotive (Car Guy), and Movies.

What are 3 things we at CrossFit don’t know about you?
I have been a General Manger in the Fast Food industry for 19 years now.
I am starting my own part time auto detailing business in Spring of 2016, and planning to grow it into a Full time business by 2017.
I have been Hard of Hearing since I was 5.

What is your favorite thing about our Box?
Except for a couple whimpers when discussing the WOD, everyone is pretty enthusiastic and buckles down and gives it all they have. Also, the leaders and coaches genuinely care about us in more ways than WE realize!

What other boxes have you been too?
None yet, but two different times this fall I am traveling, first to L.A. & San Diego, and second to Bear Lake, CA. I plan to visit some Boxes.

Any other comments:
I am really beginning to appreciate the “Tribal Team” as we all challenge each other in different ways. I look forward to developing more friends as time goes on. And lastly but most important, Psalm 27:1 “The Lord is my light and my salvation- whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life- of whom shall I be afraid?”
